This is a unique programme of giving opportunity to school leavers to gain employable skills in ATDC and getting employed afterwards. This target group has no chance at all to get employed because they do not have any skills. They cannot afford to further their education due to their financial and scholarly abilities.
ATDC gets these youth from a list given by the Labour Department, and selected through an interview done by ATDC based on their attitude, commitment and financial capability. After selection, they are trained by ATDC free of charge with the assistance of HSBC (Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corp).
Upon completion of training and certified, they are given to contractors’ companies for a 3-month attachment. Of the 15 youth who completed their attachment last year, 13 are now employed, 1 opted to go back to school and 1 was medically unfit for employment.
This year there are 15 youth in the Lifting Courses and 10 in the Scaffolding Courses. This early, a few of them have already been employed even before they completed their attachment.
